Northern NJ Entrepreneur Offers Tips on How to Reinvent, Grow Business in a Changing Economy
Lynette Viviani Selected as Panelist at March 25 WCBS Small Business Breakfast
PARSIPPANY, NJ, March 24, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lynette Viviani, founder of Viviani Public Relations, a Parsippany-based boutique marketing communications firm, has been invited to be a panelist for the next WCBS Radio Small Business Breakfast at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
An expert in PR for the telecommunications and transportation industries, Viviani, a Kinnelon resident who launched her company in her home office in 1988, will share how she is reinventing and growing her business to focus on the needs of CEOs of small and medium-sized businesses after serving large corporate clients for more than 20 years. She will share the following list of top five tips with fellow business owners:
Recognize your value. Working with one, marquise client for an extended period of time tends to dilute the client's - and your own - perception of the value of your services. What one client learns to take for granted, other clients in related industries will love to have and will consider very valuable.
2. Stick to your knitting. Concentrate your business development efforts on industries that you know well and in which you offer value that differentiates you from the new kids on the block. Stay tuned in to your target industries and on top of all the news. Be a news hound in general because all industries today are interrelated. Keeping up with trends is critical.
3. Look for problems and offer solutions. When you see a potential client faced with a business problem to which you have a solution, do your homework on the company and reach out to top executives with a concise description of how you can help. Be persistent, follow-up and chances are you'll be successful in snagging a good, new client.
4. Offer free samples. The key to online and in-person communications these days is to share information. Give free advice and the recipients who value it will come back for more on a paying basis.
5. Use "we" not "you." When you approach a new business prospect, discuss his or her issues in the first person. Say what "we" can do to reach "our" goals -- not what "you" can do to reach "your" customers and achieve "your" goals. Talk as if you already have the client and that you're already a member of the team. See where you want to be and act like you're already there!
Viviani will join a panel of four other small business owners at the March 25 breakfast. For more information and to purchase tickets for the event, visit http://www.wcbs880.com/WCBS-880-Small-Business-Breakfast/6401961. For information about Viviani PR, call 973-968-7929 or visit www.vivianipr.com
